Czechoslovakia (continued)

1451CZECHOSLOVAKIA COLLECTION. "An excellent collector's collection of used stamps in high quality, concentrating on the twenty years from 1918 to 1938. On a fairly quick inspection we note highlights such as Hradcany imperf errors, 'Posta Ceskoslovenska', overprints inc. 4k dark green (#B20a, signed), 10k violet (#B21, signed twice) and other valuable high values such as 1.50k and 2.50k surcharges on Austria 'Flugpost' o/ps (#B37/B38, each signed three times), similarly good postage dues many signed with multiple signatures inc. #B58/60 and #B62 mint. Then follows important o/ps on the Hungarian issues inc. #B71 mint (signed twice) and #B72 used on piece (signed three times), the 'Hungarian Parliament Building' series used to 5k (#B73/B89) and the scarce 10k mint (#B90, with certificate) a stamp usually missing from collections. This continues with better semi-postals leading onto the Hungarian postage dues o/ps inc. #B107 mint (signed Gilbert) and #B115/B123 complete used. The collection unfolds with strong 1920s material including first series airposts complete used (#C1/3), second series complete used (#C4/6 and mint), Olympics and Sokol series complete used on piece (#B137/B143), and virtually everything else, se-tenant labels, better early FDC's of the 1930s, Eastern Silesia with no empty spaces inc. Masaryk high values mint never hinged (#31/32, signed twice), etc. In summary a tip top highly useful collection with lots of stamps not usually seen." "Est. 3,500.00-4,500.00"
1452CZECHOSLOVAKIA COLLECTION. "A very clean collection, mint housed on old fashioned Schaubek album leaves. Starting off with the ever popular 'Hradcany' issues imperfs, through to 1000h, followed by a study of the perforated Allegory types onto the airmails of 1922 complete, interspersed with various Doplatit, with much completion and in equally excellent condition. Then the coil issues of 1926 as well as the definitives of the Masaryk issues, followed by the Great Tatra mint and further useful Doplatit, the 'breaking chain' issues. The collection further develops in the 1930s and 40s with no empty spaces, followed by a further specialised study of the Hradcanys, somewhat anachronistically. The best part of the collection however is towards the end with the 'Posta Ceskoslovensko 1919' diagonal o/ps with dramatically misplaced o/ps, one the 40h (signed) with the 1919 missing, overprinted on the back of the stamp (signed), inverted overprints (signed), double overprints such as the 20filler on the Hungarian King issue definitive (signed three times), similar excellent material on the overprints specifically on the Austrian postage due types, again all signed, even an imperf newspaper Austrian Hungarian issue, with the overprint on the back, again expertized. Also here are a few imperf 'breaking chains' issues and a further study in depth of the late 1920s and 1930s including inter-panneaus, labels, etc. Finally the collection ends with the Eastern Silesia, complete to 1000h, in both first issues and of course the Doplatits." "Est. 3,000.00-3,500.00"
1453/GRIPPING MOSTLY MODERN MINT CZECHOSLOVAKIA ACCUMULATION. Clean group of many hundreds almost all never hinged organized in stock books and binders fill a medium box. With strength in the 1970's this lot is packed with a number of perf and imperf souvenir sheets and many sheets of four and miniature sheets as well as a number of better items including 1920 perf and imperf airmails and 1952 Bratislava Expo souvenir sheet never hinged. A clean very fine unit and well worth a quick look. "Est. 1,500.00-2,000.00"
1454CZECHOSLOVAKIA: 1920/25 5H VIOLET 'CARRIER-PIGEON' HIGHLY SPECIALISED COLLECTION. "A fascinating detailed study of this issue, written-up on quadrille pages from one man's lifetime collection, with a magnificent showing of errors and varieties. The collection starts off with the perforation varieties and errors including a postcard franked with strip of three perf 13¾ alongside 'freedom' issues (signed Levec), examples missing lower line of perforations, including one with malformed lines etc, followed by 'light print' errors with mint and used multiples and a used marginal copy signed Mrnak and Karasek. Then an excellent showing of the imperf errors with many signed, including a mint block of four signed Gilbert, leading on to three pages of important retouches, each identified, including well over two dozen signed. Also a page for pre-printing paper fold examples, including a striking mint strip of five with two perfectly horizontal folds. Last but not least is a highly unusual and rare sheet of six tete-beche postal forgeries this time signed Hirsch and Tribuna. An intriguing collection of this apparently inconspicuous issue, assembled over many years of collecting. Please inspect." "Est. 1,500.00-2,500.00"
1455/"CZECHOSLOVAKIA COLLECTION, 1918-1938." "Many hundreds of predominantly mint OG and unused stamps comprising Definitives, Commemoratives, Airpost, Personal Delivery, Postage Dues, Newspaper stamps, and Eastern Silesia, neatly arranged in mounts on pages in an album; includes Hradcany Castle perf and shade varieties, plate and inscription blocks, blocks of 3 plus plain or inscribed labels, and scattered tete-beche pairs and gutter pairs of various issues, 1920 surcharged Airpost set, and more; generally fresh, Fine-VF; useful material, given the Castle varieties and numerous position pieces; Viewing a must for full appreciation !" "Est. 1,000.00-2,000.00"
1456CZECHOSLOVAKIA COLLECTION. "Two volume collection, the first is an old fashioned album mint and used, with a run of hundreds of stamps from 1918 onwards, with very few empty spaces and some specialisation. We note Hradcany issues with imperf errors, lots of types and perf varieties, similarly on the 'science and agriculture' issues well worth further investigation. Also the airposts with first and second series mint, with the perf issues with varieties and each signed three times. Then the 1925 Olympics and 1926 Sokol Congress complete mint, the 1kc lilac hymn miniature sheet unused cut-down, etc. Then the collection is seemingly complete through to the 1960s. The second book has the miniature sheets and so-called sheetlets with better inc. 1952 Bratislava used, the mushroom series sheetlets complete used and much more. A very useful collection well worth a close inspection." "Est. 1,000.00-1,400.00"

"Est. 750.00-1,000.00"

Danzig

1462DANZIG ACCUMULATION. "An extraordinary accumulation representing three decades of stripping collections. There are several thousands of stamps here in one volume, all chronologically organised with most in complete series format, particularly interesting because of the distinct possibility of varieties to be discovered with these series. Virtually everything you would expect is present, even a few forerunners, the quality is far better than normally encountered in both mint and used, often with the former never hinged and the latter good commercial used. Another good feature is that nothing is in excessive quantities, perhaps half a dozen or so of each, mint and used, on average. We note the 1920 2pf gray mint (#31), 1923 surcharges complete mint x2 (#156/167), 1924/32 mint and used complete (#193/199), 1930 Free State 10th Anniversary overprints complete mint x2 (#200/210), useful airpost series of the 1920s and '30s, better postage dues inc. 1923/28 #J30/J39 with probably two series complete mint never hinged, officials with at least two mint series, one never hinged of the 1924/25 issue (#O42/O52), also a useful range of ""Port Gdansk' on the last page mint and used with complete series, etc. However, these are the more obvious and it is in the earlier definitives and overprints and marks the real challenge here. Much of the material has been signed by the experts, but then hidden in the crammed to capacity presentation. The lot has not at all been cataloged. Viewing also much recommended." "Est. 3,750.00-4,500.00"

Denmark

1463DENMARK COLLECTION. "A very attractive mint collection housed in an old fashioned Plymouth album on quadrille pages, well presented with many good items from the 19th century onwards. For example, the 'coat of arms' issues to the 32ore with three different shades of the top value through to turn of the century with Christian IX with 100ore, the 1912 surcharges and then the final series of the cost of arms (perf 14 x 13 1/2) again to the 32 ore complete. Also seen here the scarce type A7 to 24o mint as well as the 15ore o/p on 24 ore with flat bar of 5 in pair. Similar good items include King Frederick VIII to 100o complete, King Christian XI to 2kr, the 27ore o/ps very impressive with two pages of these issues, then King Christian X second definitive issues to 5kr, followed by a good range of 'back of the book' with important stamps in postage dues, etc. All mint, virtually all pristine from the 1930s onwards the collection is virtually complete inc. se-tenant blocks, etc. For those looking for nothing but the best in mint Denmark to serve as an extremely good mint foundation, this is it." "Est. 1,500.00-2,000.00"

Ecuador

1464ECUADOR COLLECTION. "A most impressive looking collection housed in a very large old fashioned rectangular album. This collection was formed a generation ago and now brought to light. Starting off with the classics from 1881 onwards with a nice range of used. Certainly the 1897-1898 surcharges look very good including used as well as the circular 'Correos Provisionales' with coats of arms, inverted surcharge also looking good. 1889 similarly strong followed by the Telegrafos oval overprints with distinct possibilities here through to 1911. Thereafter, a fairly comprehensive 20th century collection, again with the added bonus of occasional blocks of 4 as well as dramatic misplaced surcharges, etc. Also seen the impressive looking 'Monument to Simon Bolivar' 1930 series set of 13 mint and used with the 1,2 and 10 Sucres in blocks of 4 as well as all the lower values. Similar sets to 10 pesos of the o/ps of 1935, etc. and useful non Scott listed material including fascinating 'Seguro Social'. The collection then develops with more blocks of 4, filling up the pages of this homemade album through to the airmails of 1943, the large 'Parliamentary' issues to 10 Sucres, etc. More issues then of the officials and the back of the book, again from the 19th century onwards. Accompanying this collection are sheets of airmails as printed by Thomas de la Rue, with the Aero Sedta o/ps, showing different varieties, no doubt consistent sheet varieties as well as misplaced o/ps. This thoroughly original old fashioned collection has much merit and lends itself to a little re-presentation to make it even more worthwhile." "Est. 1,500.00-2,000.00"
1465ECUADOR COLLECTION. "Fascinating collection mostly composed of old auction lots principally as bought in Bournemouth Stamp Auctions and Harmers of London in 1965 and 1967. Several hundred stamps here mint and used from the 19th century onwards. Interesting cancels, o/ps etc and the back of the book. Must be seen to be appreciated." Est. 500.00-700.00

Worth a peek." Est. 250.00-300.00

1479PFRANCE AND MONACO PROOFS AND COLOR TRIALS COLLECTION. "Around 60 items housed in two volumes, all from the 20th century, this is not at all your normal range of modern and readily available sunken die proofs and color trials, far from it, as there's some very scarce material present, for example the #B66 'winged victory' 30cts signed, 1939 70cts Jean Racine in sepia, many good post-WWII inc. Michelangelo 10fr in turquoise signed by the artist, good semi-postals such as the 1954 #B291/B292 Red Cross in sepia and bluish green and many further issues including signed proofs inc. 1973 Charles le Brun and other designs, with progressive proofs showing stages of the printing process. The Monaco is equally impressive with many scarce and attractive proofs such as a wonderful series of die proofs of the six designs for the 1969 Leonardo da Vinci centenary, each signed and each accompanied by a color trial strip of three with each impression being in a different shade. Also 'Premier Etat' reverse impression engraving and full impression of the Charlotte de Gramont, F.J. Bosio centenary 6fr+9fr in ultramarine and in black both signed, etc. There are many more rare items here to inspect in this very attractive collection of the unusual." "Est. 2,750.00-3,500.00"
