| 3618 | ![]() /![]() ![]() | MASSIVE GERMANY - DDR STOCK one of the best stocks of this country that we have had the pleasure of offering for a while. Particularly so since it has been formed by an East Coast dealer over 45 years specializing in Germany and European material. Everything here is with Scott numbering, methodically organized with tens of thousands of stamps, in 8 extra large thick stockbooks, housed the good old fashioned American Way with mint on the left hand side and used on the right, chock-a-block. There is of course Michel numbers occasionally for non-Scott listed material. Much of the stock was bought on a new issue service basis. Nothing is in excessive quantity, perhaps up to a dozen of each with hardly any empty spaces. Starting with the Soviet Occupation Zone onwards, in order to give you a flavor of what is here the SBZ does have some of the good shades of the 1948 series and the various defins including key values to the 84pf. There is also strict categorisation between the 1948 #10N29/ #10N44 and the very good East Germany #122 / #136 inc the key value Scott #29, the 25pf olive green, with at least half a dozen copies mint never hinged (cat $150 each). Also seen half a dozen copies correctly used (cat $175 each !). Moreover on this particular series, even on the second key value, #136 the 84pf top value, there at least 20 copies mint (cat $42 each). Similarly when it comes to other good definitive series such as the Îworkersâ #155 / #171 and #187/ #204, they are all here with about half a dozen of each again with key values in abundance. This is fairly well spread on the first series and then on the second series dominated by the 20pf olive as key, there are half a dozen of these here (cat $60 each). On the commemoratives and the semi postals, again a very strong representation from SBZ and then the UPU issue of the 1949 onwards, yet again with nothing in excessive quantity ie, a dozen or so of each such as the Îletter carriersâ #49 /#50, Îwinter sportsâ #51 /#52, the ÎGlobe and Sunâ #53, the ÎAcademy of Scienceâ long series #58/ #67 with perhaps 10 or more complete here, the ÎFight for Peaceâ #71/#74, the Russian-German friendship #81/#82 etc etc, they are all here in quantity - even the Chairman Mao Tse Tung which does have about 15 series complete mint, yet as often is the case only a few without the glazed gum and similar problems with this large pictorial issue. It should be noted there is also at least a dozen used series completeö this is the case for all of these books, crammed both mint and used complete, representing a very substantial and important holding ready to sell. This first book alone must have a retail potential of tens of thousands of dollars and the 7 other volumes follow a similar pattern. Of course in Euro it will be even more, and given the thorough way that this now retired dealer formed the stock over the decades, it probably will approach or even exceed six figuresn Euro, it is that good. A great opportunity to replenish stocks inexpensively, not only for the key series of the 1940s and early 50s but for everything else. A much recommended viewing of an extraordinary stock. | Est. $7000-10000 | |
