1001UNITED STATES HIGHLY VALUABLE COLLECTION, 1847-1934. An important one-volume collection of hundreds of predominantly mint stamps in a 1989 Scott "Platinum" hingeless album. The collection begins with about 85 mostly used stamps through the 1870 Bank Note grilled issue with some duplication. There are two copies each of the 5¢ and 10¢ 1847 issue (one of each appears unused although either faintly cancelled or cancel removed), followed by an attractive 5¢ Reproductoin (#3). The 1851-57 issue is nearly complete, and boasts several difficult stamps such as 1¢ Blue types Ia (ms. cancel) and IIIa, the 5¢ Red Brown and 10¢ Green type I (ms. cancel). The 1857-61 is strong as well, wtih better 1¢ types and better 5¢ colors with an extra Brick Red. The 10¢ Greens include a type I and the 12¢ through 90¢ are complete. The 1861-66 regular issue and 1867 Grills are fairly complete and include an intensely colored 15¢ Black #77 that looks very much like its re-issue counterpart #108, and a used 90¢ 'F' grill. The 1869 Pictorials are complete either used or unused, the three top values being very attractively centered. There is also a used 30¢ re-issue #131. The collection really starts to take on a complete appearance at the 1870 Bank Notes (less the obvious rarities and Special Printings), and there are only a few used stamps from here to 1934. Highlights include 1879 to 30¢; 1887-88 to 90¢; 1890-93 complete to 90¢; Columbians complete to $5; all the 1894-98 Bureau Issue spaces are filled with the exception of the $1 1895 type II; and Trans-Mississippi is complete to the $2. The 20th Century does not falter at all, and includes all of the commemoratives; 1902-03 Regulars complete to the $5 plus a pair of the 5¢ Blue imperf. The Washington-Franklins are really nice and include all of the regularly issued stamps less a couple $1 values. The Bluish Papers include the 3¢, 10¢ and 13¢, and the coils are quite well represented by singles and pairs or line pairs, although there are some of the flat plate items of dubious authenticity. All of the 1916-22 $2 and $5 values are also present. Concluding this powerful collection is the BOB material, starting off with the airmails. This section includes a set of singles and, as an added bonus, BLOCKS OF FOUR of the 65¢-$2.60 Graf Zeppelins (with 1936 letter from Scott Stamp & Coin regarding their purchase). Also covers for the $1.30 and $2.60 values, plus a plate number block of six of the 50¢ Chicago Zeppelin. Special Delivery is fairly complete, and Dues a little spotty. There are complete sets of the Parcel Post and Offices in China. The Officials are about one-half complete and incldue all of the Executive and Navy Departments, twelve diff. Agriculture, Justice and State 12¢-90¢ values, and an OG single of the $20 State. Lastly, for some unknown reason, the collector has also included a #7LB1 cover, and a mint copy of Canal Zone #36b (both with P.F. Certificates). As it is with all collections of this type, the gum situation on the mint stamps varies from no gum or regummed to OG. But it seems that where it counts, such as the dollar value Columbians and Trans-Miss, the stamps are OG, and for the others from 1882, nearly all are OG. The stamps are almost exclusively F-VF or F-VF appearing, and this excellent collection really shows well and can certainly be used as the foundation for continuance. Twenty-four certificates (virtually all P.F.) accompany (Photo) Est. 60,000.00-70,000.00
1002U.S. A FABULOUS MINT BLOCK COLLECTION FROM AN ESTATE. What can we say a rare collection of blocks of 4 only, and with €NH€ stamps present. A collection that is at the very least truly outstanding! Beginning with 1901 complete Pan Ams, 1902 definitives to the $1, Scott #300-311, the #311 is a particularly handsome individual item. The imperfs with the 1902-03 1¢, 2¢ and 5¢ blocks of 4 (#314, 315, 320), Louisiana Purchase complete, Jamestown complete, Lincolns complete incl. bluish paper, imperf Alaska, Yukon Hudsons, etc. Then the Washington and Franklin heads definitives, which are a real delight, only one-of-a-kind, with quality being the key in this collection and it shows throughout. For example, the 1908 Washington heads to the $1 complete (#331-342), the imperfs complete (#343-347), the 1910's complete (#374-382), then virtually complete with #405-407, 414-418, 419-421, 422-423, 424-439...all highly desirable material. Pan-Pacifics, perf 10 to the 5¢ and perf 12 to the 10¢. More Washington Franklin heads with #462-476 and the $5 #480, 1917's well represented incl. 5¢ error and everything else complete through to #518, the other dollar high value Franklins also present with #522, 523 and 547. A good range of 1918's onwards incl. different types, 1922's well represented all the way through to the $5, 1926 complete, Kansas-Nebraskas complete, 1931's complete, prexys complete. #C1-3, C4-6, C7-9, C10, C11, C12, all complete blocks of 4 as well as the Zeppelin #C18, Special Deliveries excellent with #E6-9, E11 onwards complete, parcel posts complete to the $1. Shanghais virtually complete incl. the $2 high value (no K15, but also K17 and K18 present, etc.). This completely original holding could fill a number of pages in an auction catalog with individual color photographs, as there is some super centering. Most of this material was bought in New England in the 1950's and 1960's and hasn't been on the market since then. It is offered, incredibly, as one lot and is a lifetime opportunity. When did you last see a block collection of this quality and depth offered as one lot? Think of it as four collections just loaded with choice NH stamps. (Photo) Est. 50,000.00-60,000.00
