1122EARLY U.S. POSTAL HISTORY COLLECTION, 1797/1936. A useful collection of early, predominantly classics era and earlier, postal history presented in six volumes of Vario pages in White Ace binders plus five Safe cover albums, all stored in a large carton. With an estimated 835+ items, the collection consists of stampless covers, classic issue usages, Patriotics, Locals, Confederate States, 1869 Pictorial usages, Bank Note usages, and some Columbians & Bureaus, as well as assorted Leather Postcard usages (with the stamps well adhered), and an unused wooden postcard. 1123LIFETIME ILLINOIS POSTAL HISTORY COLLECTION., Mammoth collection of over 4000 covers in twenty two binders and a box, mostly ca. 1820's to 1920's, with emphasis on postmarks and usages. 1126UNITED STATES FIRST DAY COVER AND STATIONARY HOARD IN 6 CARTONS. Large accumulation of first day covers and cards, postal stationary, covers as well as some used stamps. There are about 5,000 first day's starting in 1935 including a few United Nations housed in albums both commercial, Reader Digest etc, and collector made and still in the envelopes from the cachet makers. The few hundreds of stationary items is almost all modern and unused with strong duplication. 1127FOTIOS DRAKOS 1903-4 HARTFORD 2C POSTAL STATIONERY COLLECTION., spectacular collection and research accumulation of many thousands including exhibit collection mounted in several volumes and boxes of back up stationery entires, with both the 1903 issue and the 1904 recuts, nearly all commercially used including many new earliest dates, the variety of dies, watermarks, sizes, types and knifes are so numerous to be impossible possibly mention, including some wrappers, postmarks include machine, Doane, flag and duplex cancels, usages include railroad, postage due, uprated, foreign destinations, instructional markings, registered, cut outs used illegally, the exhibit is neatly and professionally mounted with large enlargements of varieties, these include wrapper bands with identification on a large part of the collection, nearly every state in the union is included and a large percentage have corner cards including illustrated, some in color, an unusual opportunity for the small auction house or internet seller with most of the research already done, likely one of the greatest grouping of the 2c Hartford dies ever offered, many are ex-Barkhausen or ex-Wunsch Est. 4,000.00-5,000.00

1137PUERTO RICO CIGRETTE REVENUE HOARD., An amazing old-time accumulation of used series of 1925 through 1980's excise taxpaid and tax exempt cigarette stamps sorted in numerous glassines in five boxes. Much duplication but a large variety of stamp series, denominations, and company cancels. Many of the earlier stamps retial in the $50-$150 range. Uncounted (but at least 5000) and unpicked as received so there are sure to be sleepers in this group. 1147ANTARCTICA AND RELATED POSTAL HISTORY. An interesting fascinating collection of around 700 covers housed in five volumes, as well as two small piles of covers awaiting incorporation. The nucleus consists of an album of Arctic and Antarctic material including Australia, Great Britain, France, Japan, US, etc. with many good items, the best probably being the British Antarctic Territory £1 black and red 'HMS Endurance' on FDC with V.S.Fuchs signature and Endurance cachet. Also seen in this volume helicopter and submarine mail, better stamp series mint never hinged inc. FSAT, AAT first series, Russia souvenir sheets, etc. There are also further unusual covers for example from Marion Island, the Belgian Antarctic Station 'Roi Baudoin', icebreakers, etc. Another volume contains naval and scientific research covers with many signed by their respective captains, includes USAPP, oceanographic development projects, Glacier WAGB-4 and other ecological surveys, 'military sealift command', covers 'from the sea floor aboard Marine Physical Laboratory's Remote Underwater Manipulator' and another volume with 'verorgungsgeschwader', 'schnellbootgeschwader', 'ubootgeschwader', 'fregattengeschwader', 'minensuchgeschwader', etc! 1148REMARKABLE "TYROL" EXHIBIT OF THE PRE-ADHESIVE POSTAL HISTORY OF AUSTRIA, 1516-1850. This remarkable exhibit of 196 items (FLs, FLs, covers), mounted on annotated pages inside page protectors, shows the development of postal markings from the 16th Century to the introduction of adhesive stamps in 1850 via examples of Royal, ecclesiastical (church), Austrian Military and Napoleonic Military mail; WIENN city post; disinfected covers; express letters; and private correspondence; highlights include Royal mail letters signed by Ferdinand (1535), Maxilillian II (1567), Rudolph II (1582), Ferdinand III (1640), Leopold I (1670) with intact seal, Elisabetha Christina (1744), Maria Theresia (1748), and Francis I (1754); very scarce "KKOMP/Mainz" (Kaiser King Oesterreich Military Post/Mainz) oval hs on 1843 FL from Linien Infantry Regiment to Lobliche Herrschaft (top government officials) Rappolenkirchen, Austria; and May 31, 1850 FL, Wien to Steyer (Austria), postmarked on last day of the pre-stamp period (stamps introduced in Austria June 1, 1850); in spite of their age, all items are in remarkably clean, intact, generally VF condition; the exhibitor obviously took great pains to obtain the finest specimens available with which to make his fascinating presentation, formed over the past 25 years with owner's cost at over $25,000. 1149AUSTRIAN BALLOON POST POSTAL HISTORY COLLECTION. A very impressive and even more colorful collection of flown balloon covers, well presented with occasional supporting documentation, housed in two large albums. Some of the highlights include a 1927 Roodt Luxemburg balloon flight card, the 1971 Raiffeisen, the 1974 'Pro Juventute' flight, excellent thematic range and interest with United Nations, winter olympics, many on illustrated post cards, often accompainied by a good range of appropriate matching thematic including for example, railways, animals etc. Virtually all the covers are visually attractive with a huge diversity of postmarks an cachets.
