This was put together over the years by a collector who was truly dedicated to finding the unusual. For example, in the postmarks he has correctly categorised (with the pages listed in the Sudan postal history book) the best, such as Indian Field Post Office 5.362. F.P.O. 24 10,1940 - 1st Week January 1941, Khartoum Sennar T.P.O. No. 2 S.321, dated XXEC 35, Merowi S. Unlisted (but as type S.109), dated 14XI, etc. also seen Retta Cancellation S.406. and many other cancels. The collection itself is organised from the first issues onwards through to the officials, etc. Probably the best section would be the covers, which are from the 19th century onwards inc. partial correspondence i.e. Glover inc. 'c/o the Governor'. Also seen airmail covers, registered, philatelic inc. definitives to 50pi and airmail pictorials to 1950. Of particular interest are the censor covers inc. registered and 'American Clipper'. Also some postal stationery. All in all a throughly interesting range of Sudan, representing an opportunity for the specialist to buy some exhibition standard material, offered intact as received." "Est. 1,000.00-1,500.00"
