COLOMBIA - ANTIOQUIA STATE INTERESTING COLLECTION. "A specialised collection with much reference material, clearly set out differentiating different types, from the first issues of 1868 - the 2 1/2cts blue 'coat of arms' onwards. The first page sets the pace with reprints from 'defaced designs' inc. a block of 4 unused, accompanied by an Oswald Schroeder forgery, etc. Then the 1868 issues continue with genuine #2 with 4 large margins with superb manuscript cancel, (cat: $575, only 2016 copies printed), accompanied by various forgeries and an important signed Sperati in proof sheet format. Further issues from 1868, this time with the 10cts lilac inc. multiples forgeries, etc. ending with the 1 peso red with a really fabulous #4 with light blue oval cancel, genuine with 4 ample margins (cat: $750, only 504 copies printed). This is also followed by forgeries inc. multiple. A good showing of the 1869 issues with a mint block of 4 #5 and various other genuine singles, further studies of reference copies, with page after page, denomination by denomination researched into these imperf, with multiples. Also accompanied with occasional literature/articles strategically placed, as appropriate in the collection for further study. There are also dozens of imperfs from the 1869 issues to research. The collection continues with the 1873 imperfs with a similar pattern of genuine followed by reference copies, leading to the 1873, 5 pesos high value through to the 1875/1885 imperfs with much exciting material here. Further issues 1878/1885 with some Medellin blue oval cancels and small town manuscript cancels, etc. The imperfs continue on with the 1886 types virtually all genuine inc. more Medellin issues, on to the perforated issues of 1889/1890 with genuine rose, blue, yellow and green papers, etc. as well as a study of different denominations on incorrect color papers. Then the 1892 'Eagle and shield' issues mostly genuine and similarly with the 1899 Cordoba issues inc. imperfs and part-perfs, etc. Also a study of UPU registration issues again with some scarce material and turn of the century 1902 issues to the 5 pesos. Inspection a pleasure for the specialist." "Est. 2,000.00-3,000.00"
COLOMBIA COLLECTION WITH STRENGTH IN CLASSICS. "A serious collection with thousands of stamps, mint and used, as well as some postal history, representing a last minute entry with a 'must-sell' instruction. This is all housed in one thick album, bulging from the departmentals onwards starting with a broad range of Antioquia, Bolivar looking very impressive from the first imperfs onwards, then a good range of Cundinamaraca, again with lots of interesting material, followed by Tolima, etc. Then Colombia proper with several dozen imperfs and a wide range of cancels and the perforated 19th century also very strong, with page after page full of material with no doubt tremendous potential here as well. This leads onto 20th century which also has postal history and some Scadta issues as well as back of the book, etc. The collection then starts in classics again with material that was waiting to be incorporated into the main collection. A very nice solid collection with thousands of stamps, please inspect." "Est. 2,000.00-2,500.00"

Czechoslovakia

PCZECHOSLOVAKIA: OUTSTANDING 1920S 'AGRICULTURE AND SCIENCE' PROOFS COLLECTION. "A great collector's collection of approximately 500 items, housed on a thick stack of album leaves from the specialized holding of 1920s Czechoslovakia, formed over a lifetime. Many if not all of the stages in the production of the 'Agriculture and Science' high values are represented, with very scarce items present, all extensively researched and written-up. The collection starts with a couple of magnificent showpiece, a negative impression die proof on smooth ungummed yellowish paper and a large composite proof in red, showing five impressions of four different denominations, then launches into the neotype prints which run for several pages, including issues in red, blue, green and violet on gummed stamp paper, broken composites and excellent complete composites, this time of the four values in lilac brown, olive brown and orange red, all on gummed stamp paper. Then follow exhaustive studies of black-prints on white and yellowish paper, perf black-prints with many varieties, color trials on rough paper, extensive shade ranges of the 500h and 600h in their issued colors on yellowish ungummed paper inc. dark violet (signed Gilbert and Karasek) and blocks of four (signed Mrnak), as well as interesting perforated proofs of the same. These lead on to an impressive array of paper shades inc. red, pink (with a page of highly unusual perf examples), blue, green, etc., followed by examples on carton paper, chalk paper, yet more fabulous composite proofs in red, green and blue. Then a stunning range of color trials on gummed chalk paper running for several pages with many signed by the experts, even perf 13¾x13½ examples of a 100h deep pink, 400h bright green and 300h greenish blue, each on gummed paper. The collection continues with severe printing errors including many in multiple format, several final state profos of the 200h violet, each signed Gilbert or Mrnak, the 1920 complete set of six final state proofs, all signed Gilbert and much more. There is so much here and this represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire material hardly ever seen on the market today. One of the best collections of Czechoslovakia we have ever offered." (Photo) "Est. 15,000.00-18,000.00"
PCZECHOSLOVAKIA: EXTRAORDINARY EXHIBITION COLLECTION OF PROOFS OF THE 1920 THOMAS MASARYK ISSUES. "A phenomenal collection of material from the production of the Masaryk high values of 1920, beautifully displayed on quadrille leaves in a thick stack from the estate of a lifelong Czechoslovakia collector. There are well over 500 items here, all accompanied by scholarly write-up on the different gummed and ungummed papers, the different printing methods, essays, composites, neotypes, etc, organized throughout by the intended denominations. The collection begins with the 50h with highlights including two extraordinary large format essays by Max Svabinsky on white and bleu papers produced as an aid for the printers, die proofs in red and violet brown on large pieces of paper, followed by page after page of permutations of the small format proofs in many colors with detailed studies on the blue shades particularly of the issued 125h including perforated examples, through to high quality proofs on white gummed paper in spectacular colors, many signed by Sperling and Ekstein. Then follows an important section on the 125h starting off with proofs in black and blue with blank value tablets inc. single signed Wallner and block of four in blue, denominated black-prints in negative, rare color trials inc. two in red on carton paper, plus an imperf in olive green and perf dark blue green, both signed Wallner. Then there are wonderful pages of color trials on gummed paper, series on different colored papers, etc. There is similar depth on the 500h with probably the best being an example on light gray gummed paper signed Karasek and a small format copy in brown on rough paper signed Karasek and Benes! The 1000h material includes scarce neotype prints and page after page of color trials and paper varieties, including a block of six in black on brown ungummed paper showing three different plate varieties, as well as fascinating studies of the plate varieties on the regular black-prints. The unissued 1200h and 2000h denominations are mainly represented here by a stunning range of neotype prints, the 1200h inc. single in brown, signed Gilbert and Fischmeister, as well as a block of four in yellow. Then the 2000h including a blue copy with pre-printing paper fold, perf copy in violet, red imperf again signed Gilbert and Fischmeister etc. Also highly unusual neotypes of the 2000h with the corners blank color, leading on to scarce proofs on gummed paper including a single in violet, signed Ekstein, etc. This great collection is the product of a lifetime's research, it is unquestionably one of the best collections of this scarce material we have seen. This represents an opportunity hardly ever available, viewing highly recommended." (Photo) "Est. 10,000.00-20,000.00"
CZECHOSLOVAKIA: 1920 THOMAS MASARYK 125H BLUE WORLD-CLASS SPECIALISED COLLECTION. "A fascinating section from one of the best collections of Czechoslovakia ever assembled, mounted on quadrille leaves with an extensive write-up. You will be hard pressed to find an 'ordinary' item here, the collection being a very impressive array of varieties, shades, errors etc, with many signed by the experts. The collection begins with the normal gray blue shade with two pages of mint imperfs showing both types I and II with many signed Gilbert, Wallner and Ekstein including a pair, followed by a remarkable series of three pages of mostly commercially used imperfs including one showing the short foot of '2' constant plate variety. Then the perf gray blue issue (#61) with further short foot of '2' varieties with no less than eleven used examples, as well as a wonderful page of several mint including a never hinged example in block of six with excellent centering, unusual for this issue. The collection continues with an even more extensive study of the much scarcer ultramarine shade (#61a) starting with a page of ten mint stamps, each signed by Gilbert, Karasek, Mrnak and others, showing eight different listed constant plate varieties, followed by three pages with a further twenty different constant plate varieties, again many signed, with scarce items such as plate error #24 and #180 together in mint pair, signed Gilbert and Karasek. Next comes detailed studies of the different formats, papers inc. three on yellowish paper (all signed), four on horizontally laid paper (all signed), four on thin paper (all signed) and two on thick paper inc. yellowish thick paper (signed Karasek), followed by an excellent range of at least half a dozen different shades on more than twenty stamps, each one signed. The collection continues with printing flaws and many further plate errors inc. #78 signed four times and other extremely unusual material. This collection represents part of a lifetime's work by a passionate collector of Czechoslovakia. Inspection highly recommended." "Est. 5,000.00-7,500.00"
PCZECHOSLOVAKIA: 1920S 'CARRIER-PIGEON' PROOFS COLLECTION. "A delightful and highly detailed collection of proofs of the 'carrier pigeon' design of the 1920s, approaching 300 items housed on album pages with an extensive write-up by a collector dedicated of these few years of Czech philately. Firstly there is a range of material on the more detailed unadopted design, with stars around the pigeon and shaded numerals of value. This includes scarce large format proofs of a 2h value imperf in violet and dark blue, as well as perf in orange brown (signed Ekstein), followed by small format perf copies of 5h, 10h and 15h denominations and imperfs of the same, again in different colors including a composite pair and strip of three. Then the less complex adopted design with plain background and unshaded numerals, with a comprehensive run of the different paper types and shades, etc. These include a 10h red orange (signed Gilbert and Karasek), lilac proofs of 5h, 10 and 15h values on gummed stamp paper, black-prints including errors and a methodical series of color trials on different shades of ungummed paper. There are also some scarce perf proofs and trials present, mostly if not all perf 14, including 15h blue on yellowish gummed paper, 20h blue, 20h violet, 10h green on yellowish paper, 10h olive pair on yellowish paper, 20h orange pair on yellowish paper, 10h green on deep pink paper, etc. A wonderful collection of these scarce issues which would be very difficult to replace today. An excellent opportunity, please take time for a careful viewing, much more here than described." (Photo) "Est. 5,000.00-7,500.00"
CZECHOSLOVAKIA: 1920S 'AGRICULTURE AND SCIENCE' ISSUES SPECIALISED STAMP COLLECTION. "An exceptional series of studies of the 'Agriculture and Science' high values of 1920 with close to 100 stamps, mounted and written-up on quadrille leaves, with every item representing a scarce variety or error. It would be very difficult to know where to start were the collection not presented so methodically, with striking printing errors, fabulous imperf between multiples, even shade studies on the scarce perf varieties on the 500h and 600h! We note in particular a corner block of four of the 100h green with printing fold causing most of the corner stamp to be printed on the gummed side and parts of two more stamps missing. Then two vertical strips of three of the 100h each imperf horizontally and other perf errors inc. extra perfs through the middle of a copy, signed Karasek. Blind prints again on multiples of the 200h violet and even on an example used on piece, followed by 200h faint printings, including single signed Gilbert and block of four signed Karasek amongst 16 examples all centered low implying very few produced. Then perforation errors again, including two vertical pairs between. These lead on to the 500h green with an impressive showing of paper folds and offsets, followed by no less than four pages of varieties on the perf 13¾x13½ 500h and 600h (#80a and #81a) with 14 of the 500h and 7 of the 600h, all mint. This excellent section includes distinct shades and paper varieties inc. 500h olive green block of four and many signed by the experts. The collection continues with varieties on the 600h including mint vertical pair imperf between, signed Gilbert. There is much more here than described in this remarkable collection, from the estate of a lifelong Czechoslovakia specialist, inspection highly recommended for a most enjoyable viewing."
