Danzig, again useful material requiring Michel fo attractive "Luftpost - Ausstellung 1932" zeppelin cover complete series of 5 with rectangular green postmark, also gulden high values and various m/s "Daposta 1937" pair used and the better m/s "Danziger Leiftungsfchau", commems present, as well as never hinged and good used. Prussia, Wurttemberg including 19th century revenues followed by German Empire with various shields, large and small, to 18 kr 1872-73, 1874 2 1/2 kr and 9 kr unused and used.1880 pf with 50 pf unused, various eagles and many Germanias with high values with many from the earlier, better, pre WW1 issues. Locals with Saxony province again with watermark studies, followed by Luebbenau, Finsterwalde, Spremberg, Storkow with m/s and of course an interesting range of the Hitler head obliteration overprints etc. Currency miniature sheets perf and imperf, useful ranges of posthorn o/ps, often used including multiples followed by the castles again with multiples etc. West Germany virtually complete, including posthorns 90pf NH (70pf wing marginal),Bach, Lubecks ‘helper of mankind series’, better series of the 1950s including occasional blocks of 4, as well as parallel mint never used side by side, Heuss NH (50pf marginal); Berlin, with the Black o/ps to the 5m complete cds used, plus the Red o/ps complete to the 2m used and authentic. Then follows German Colonies and offices abroad with the 1905 China 2 1/2 dollar o/ps unused high values through to colonies, etc. Then Austria from 1850 imperfs onwards, some high cataloguing items here, including genuine Newspapers, Classics, then turn of the century inc 1908/1913 10kr and BOB material, better semi-postals of the 1930s with the 1933 Skiing set, the personality series to 64gr complete etc, as well as a strong showing of post WW2 series with the birds airmails of 1950s the key values, etc. Finally Offices Abroad, then Lombardy Venetia from imperfs postal history etc etc. Collections like this go back to the "good old days" when it was possible to fill a thick European album with plenty of good material from the 1850s to the 1950s. This just is so difficult and expensive to do today. This represents a clear opportunity to buy an important collection, very reasonably, offered intact as received.[v]Est. $10000-15000

WESTERN EUROPE EXCELLENT QUALITY COLLECTION for those looking for quality with a high range of completion in post WWII Western Europe, yet not excluding occasional better classics, these 32 lighthouse hingeless albums, mint and used often parallel, are definitely for you. These are uniformly excellent stamp collections, virtually complete with no empty spaces, especially for 1945 onwards with the used being neatly mounted on the illustrated album page, followed by the mint on top, for the most part in the interleaving transparencies, designed to go "stamp over stamp", overlapping with the used for each album page. Scandinavia is particularly strong in virtually in every country, here from the 19th century onwards and the 20th century post WWII is, as to be expected very good including modern Greenland. Other particularly good countries such as, Austria, Luxemburg including 1956 Europa as well as earlier good B numbers such as 1852/1952 stamp centenary, as well as the heart of the miniature sheet of the 1952 "centilux" on cover, also seen the scarce "Pupilles de la Nation", complete to the 10fr never hinged, national exposition "dudelange" superb used and much more. Then other countries include Italy very strong 1945 onwards, Liechtenstein again virtually complete 1945 onwards, excellent modern France, Finland this time 1865 onwards including 8 classic zig-zag roulettes, Spain very good with many good series from the early 1950s onwards etc etc. To summarize, there are a good number of lighthouse albums here easily worth $400-$500+ each and nearly every album is worth a minimum of $100 each. A fantastic opportunity for a dealer or collector looking to buy a very well filled Western European collection. Although there are 32 albums it would not be an exaggeration to call this 64, because of the way perfectionist collector collected in parallel. A delightful viewing, thoroughly recommended.Est. $7500-10000

WESTERN EUROPE SOUVENIR SHEET STOCK hundreds of souvenir sheets arranged in three large binders with values up to about $150. Countries include Belgium, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Each country seems to include at least one better item. For example we spotted the 1958 Antarctic S/S from Belgium, Portugal includes 1945 Castles S/S and 1947 Costumes S/S and Switzerland has the 1953 Insects sheet (2). Generally, a worthwhile group of Fine-VF material with vast majority NH.[v]Est. $2500-3000

WESTERN EUROPE COLLECTIONS primarily Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein etc. Mostly mint collections, housed in over two dozens albums, not stockbooks. Many are crammed to capacity with no empty spaces, the overwhelming majority is 20th century, again virtually all in complete series. Probably the best part is post WWII where there will be a considerable new issues cost among the thousands of series here, without consideration of the premium, especially from the 1950s. Also noticed better booklet panes and booklets of the 1950s, often exploded but making an particularly attractive section of some of the back of the book present. A ‘must-sell’ instruction and the valuation reflects that, at $100 a pop across the board, now go figure!Est. $2500-3000
2410

USEFUL SPAIN &: PORTUGAL DEALER'S STOCK two small counter books of better mint sets, singles and souvenir sheets. Value is almost exclusively confined to 20th century material valued over $50 with some much higher. In fact, the best set is Spain 1940 Zaragoza Cathedral set (NH) followed by Portugal 1928 Third Independence set. We did note considerable value in NH sets from both countries from the 1940s and 1950s as well as a handful of colonial issues. Definitely a worthwhile group that will generate profits for an astute buyer.Est. $1000-1200

SOCCER, SOCCER, SOCCER WITH IMPORTANT COLLATERALL-WORLD CUP 28 fantastic albums replete with material, being even better than the last soccer collection we recently auctioned. These are even more in depth, if that’s possible, with the overwhelming majority specifically focusing on the World Cup Tournaments from 1934 through to 1994. There is an astonishing amount of good items here, including much scarce, if not downright rare. This is not just the case for the early issues but also for some of the modern, especially the miniature sheets of which some exist only in the hundreds. This collector went out of his way to get the low printing numbers no matter what the cost at the time. This man was incidentally involved for many years in the World Cup and worldwide soccer management for FIFA. Back to the stamps which include ‘Epreuves de Luxe’, color trials, imperfs, proofs as well as last minute overprints on commemoratives celebrating specific events, score lines almost as they occurred! Soccer, philately and patriotism in an interesting combination of immediate celebrations for the winning side. There are also hundreds of autographs that the specialists will enjoy researching. As far as can be determined, there are national teams for the various games taking place in the 1960s with the autographs of all players for Switzerland and Hungary. Also seen many dozens of other autographs possibly for other national teams as well as recognisable individual players such as the great Eusebio, Uli Hoeness, Kuhn, Eshmann, Gottardi, etc – we will leave to you football experts who is what here, among the hundreds of names autographed. With every album, chronologically organised by each tournament, nearly every country that had any link at all with world cup tournament soccer, even in the qualifying rounds is here, not just the obvious one of Western Europe and South America. For example some of the more obscure countries from the soccer perspective include many French Colonies including Mauritania, Madagascar etc, then Middle East even including Yemen, Eastern Europe including Albania, Independent Africa with Liberia etc, all have had their connections with the ‘beautiful game’ This collection is par excellence, the best. It is truly worldwide, an delight to view volume for volume from 1934 with better Italian Colonies and then save the interruption of the war, every tournament thereafter. Taking only one book at random from the 1960s, it has progressive proofs imperf and perf miniature sheets of Qatar, supplementary o/ps ‘Campeonato Mundial De Futbol’ of Panama perf and imperf, more EPDs this time of Niger, fantastic Sharjah miniature sheets never seen by us before, further numbered m/s ‘Qu’aiti State in Hadhramaut’, Mongolia perf and imperf, and what much have been a gigantic new issue costing a fortune at the time because of the low printing numbers. This is the most impressive soccer collection we have ever had the pleasure to offer.Est. $10000-12000

WORLDWIDE TOPICALS WITH NEW ISSUES INTO THE 2000'S three boxes with literally thousands of complete series, covering a variety of topics, many of these have relatively low printing numbers and are in the more desirable years of the mid to later 1990s right into the 2000s. Soccer, field sports and global competitions and the like are a notable theme. Many better countries include Antigua, Monaco, Japan, Italy, Spain, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Germany, St. Vincent &: The Grenadines, Ghana, Peru, Central African Republic, Tchad, Mali, Salvador, Yugoslavia, Uruguay, Haiti, Guinea, Mauritania, Yemen, Somali, Slovenia, Nigeria, Micronesia, Mexico, Maldives, Bahrain, Liberia, Bhutan, Jordan, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Gambia,Qatar, Senegal, Benin and Zaire… to name but a few! Another interesting feature in this accumulation is the lack of duplication, more often than not "one of a kind" as bought on a new issue service. Other areas include yet further Switzerland with buy-price "embroidery" 5 fr, mint as well as used, "Epreuves de Luxe" inc France, some better issues for many of the African countries again with printing numbers running into the low thousands, especially the m/s and the imperfs, all in complete series. Useful sections include booklets and non-Scott listed, also Australia should also be mentioned not just for the stamps of high face value but also in the Howard Florey presentation pack with no less than a 50 dollar currency bill, as part of a joint banknote/stamp promotion. Other premium items in the m/s were particularly strong in the Netherlands, loaded with good material and yet again the Swiss which the collector clearly had a penchant for with many year sets running right up to 2003 including other desirable buy-price items such as the ‘Choco Suisse’ etc. This is a great lot for a dealer or a collector looking to fill many spaces in their albums with elusive material, as often is the case for these years. Definitely a thorough viewing recommended and make no mistake this is a excellent holding that will break down very well, especially if you buy it within our valuation range.[v]Est. $5000-6000

The sheer volume and wide variety of themes seen are impressive, these include for example weaponry, space, carriages, sport, ships, architecture, stain glassed windows, horses, wildlife, inventors, iconography, birds, art, theatre and insects, etc. Of course there is plenty of non-Scott listed material again with the added advantage of nothing in excessive quantities, basically up to half a dozen of each. This accumulation represents an excellent opportunity for a new issue or topical dealer looking to replace stocks with plenty of interesting items, needing just a little re-working for categorization and pricing.Est. $2500-3000

WORLDWIDE TOPICAL THEMES GROUP two boxes replete with material, nearly all mint, with plenty of complete series stuffed on each other making a somewhat difficult viewing. However patience will pay dividends on this typical new issue ‘work lot’. For example the Hawid cards set the pace with lots of mint series with countries such as Indonesia, French Polynesia, Gambia, Rwanda to name a few. The new issues come in all shapes and sizes including se-tenants sheetlets, miniature sheets, booklets, year sets as well of course commems and defins from many different countries, often presented in glassines and protective files. In the latter for example items seen include Zambia tournament stars, Maldives "world cup" 98, the Gambia with lots of miniatures , independent French Africa with Tchad, etc. Also seen British Commonwealth inc Aitutaki, Ascension, Pitcairn Island, New Zealand, Australia, etc. There is no doubt that this accumulation has lots of potential and a close viewing is advised. There is not much used here except for a number of topics from the Far East, since for the most part virtually everything here is one of a kind mint. This is a good solid holding full of complete topical series and a most enjoyable lot to wade through, be it all needing lots of workEst. $2000-2500

WORLDWIDE TOPICALS with particular strength in Booklets as well as 'gutter pairs'. About 600 booklets housed in five books including much premium. The first book with nothing but Great Britain from sterling to decimal with well over 130 booklets here. Also in the same book a stack of large hawid sheets with over a hundred gutter pairs virtually all from the Channels Islands and various other series. Again this includes better sterling as well as later high values, even normal material from the occupation period of 1940s present as well etc. Another book focuses mostly on Netherlands with a wide range of material here, virtually all different one of a kind, also some Belgium, US Commonwealth i.e. Marshall Islands, Palau, etc. This book has well over 170 booklets. Another book focuses on France again including premium, not just commems and the miniature sheets within the booklets but also good definitives, well worth investigating with Yvert, in this book alone there are over 100 booklets all different. Another book is very diverse with lots of British Commonwealth, Switzerland with pro juventutes, Jamaica first QEII, Belgium with the early better red cross of 1953, interesting KUT with early high value sterling booklets. Pitcairn and many other islands including earlier defins well worth investigating in a Gibbons. In this book are about 130 there. The last volume focuses on mostly Scandinavia with dozens of Norway, a little Andorra with se-tenants and various other countries etc. There must be around 600 booklets here in total, without considering the stack of commemoratives and definitives with many ofthem mint series and definitive gutter pairs. Also seen various year packs Hong Kong, Norway, Greenland, Spain, etc. A very diverse holding, all one of a kind that will break down well when processed.Est. $1200-1400

WORLDWIDE TOPICALS WITH PARTICULAR STRENGTH IN BRITISH COMMONWEALTH a stockbook, mostly mint, bulging at the seams with every page crammed to capacity with glassine envelopes, with nothing but complete series, virtually all post WWII. Better obvious countries include Ascension, British Antarctic Territory, Brunei, Cocos Islands , Fiji, Greece, Jamaica, Mauritius, Netherlands, Seychelles, South Georgia, etc. The retail value here will undoubtedly run into many thousands of dollars. Much potential present and plenty of eye appeal for a wide variety of topics, especially on the British Commonwealth.Est. $750-1000

WORLDWIDE SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX when lightning strikes, it strikes twice here at Harmers. This is an exceptional safety deposit holding worldwide. Truly exciting we nearly could not put into this sale, since there was no time. However we have done so, although it really should be broken up into at least half a dozen lots or so. The estate wishes it to be auctioned now and is a "must-sell" instruction, even though we can only accommodate the vendors as one lot. It is a fantastic holding - make sure you ask for this on your viewing list. We have seen for example the scarce Japanese communications miniature sheet mint Scott #C8, KEVII Hong Kong $10 Scott #85, used, Germany Zeppelin polar flights on cover Scott #C40-42 complete, good Mexico, British Commonwealth especially Indian Native States, etc, better Colombia, good German postal history, useful Australian States, excellent Austria with sheets of 40 complete of the good semi-postal to the 64 pf complete 1930s, St Helena mint KEVII 10sh, Nigeria KGV £1 (2 mint) etc, etc. The above is just a very small fraction of what is here just to whet your appetite. A very nice holding.[v]Est. $28000-35000

WORLDWIDE HOLDING we love it when vendors come through the door with a "must-sell" instruction. However this does not make us too popular with the printers! "Keep it brief", OK Germany, Berlin, Red and black o/ps complete, good Saar, good Allied Occupation including Red Cross m/s, good Goethe, bells, polar bear complete mint series and the scarce miniature sheet, the 1949 UPU etc etc. Interesting Canada with a good range of unusual perfins, lots of postal history from pre philatelic onwards, fantastic "back of the book" with covering all kinds of themes late 19th early 20th century, inc balloons, North Pole, Zeppelins, European patriotic even Italian "doll house" multiples etc. Also seen good Austria, Poland, Spain, French Post Offices abroad - that's it, no more space allowed! WORLDWIDE SAFETY DEPOSIT HOLDING despite the pressures of lotting and getting the catalog to bed by the deadline, there are compensations when you love stamps. At the last moment this came through the door at Bethel and we have been instructed to offer it as one lot, intact. It is small and beautiful and if you are looking for an important range of good material that you can put easily in your briefcase, then this is it. Highlights include good Mexican eagle issues imperforate, virtually all four margined including high values of the ‘ocho reales’, Japanese occupation of Malaya specifically Perak with $5 high values, better Western Europe, ie m/s from Liechtenstein, Switzerland as well as good series from the better 1930s of Austria, also seen useful British Commonwealth inc EDVII 6 pesetas and 12 pesetas on 5/- and 10/- mint respectively, as well as the better printing, namely ‘de la Rue’ seahorse with the 12 pesetas on the 10/- mint KGV. Other areas seen including scarce Brunei m/s, Chinese locals, Indian Native States, Bolivia with non Scott listed material again including imperfs, rejected plates, inverted o/ps, unaccepted essays all from the 19th /early 20th century, etc. Much more here than described, especially in the back of the book. Probably the best way to get a feel for the depth and range of material is to look at the color scans, although this is the tip of the iceberg. This holding is loaded with much more good photograph material of individual items and would make a ‘mini-auction’ in itself. It is a thoroughly recommended viewing and certainly an excellent opportunity for a dealer looking for this kind of caliber for mail sales etc.[v]Est. $10000-12000

COLLECTOR'S LIFETIME WORLDWIDE ACCUMULATION three large cartons brimming over with worthwhile stamps and souvenir sheets. Two of the large cartons are filled with envelopes just as he bought them from prominent dealers in New York and London during the 1960s and 1970s. Although the vast majority are new issues of the period from British Colonies, Western Europe, Africa, and Latin America, a significant number of envelopes contain older material that has increased tremendously in value over the years. For example, we noted a 1933 cover from Austria franked by the 1933 Skiing set. From Belgium, we spotted the 1958 Antarctic S/S while Cyprus includes the 1963 Boy Scout S/S. Danzig is especially strong with several better items such as 1920 First Overprinted set, 1921 Trading Ship set and Coat of Arms set, all NH along with 1932 Airmail Overprint set. We spotted a few better Greece such as the 1933 Zeppelin set (NH) and the Airmail set while Italy - Rhodes includes the 1932 Garibaldi set (NH). From Russia, the 1964 Green Olympic S/S (2) and San Marino 1949 Scenic Views set and finally, a strong group of Ryukyu Islands that contains almost everything of value from the country including all the Airmail sets and the Special Delivery issue in a block. The last carton contains about ten Canada year sets along with several stockbooks of brand-new stamps. Although it is not easy to inspect all of these envelopes, we can guarantee that the lucky viewer who spends the most time viewing the lot will find even more worthwhile items hidden away.[v]Est. $8000-12000

The vast majority are inexpensive used 20th century stamps arranged on home made pages. Many individual country collections include a few manila stockpages of used duplicates at the back. The single most extensive country is Philippines which fills about eight binders plus a shoebox of duplicates. Germany represents the next largest section and also includes a box of duplicates. We also noticed a significant selection of France, several books of Great Britain and British Commonwealth along with dozens of binders from Western Europe, Latin America and Africa. Scattered among the stamps, we did spot an occasional cover and in some instances, these are quite interesting items and usually represent more value than the stamps. As with many collections of this nature, we did note a number of items valued at more than $10, so, a careful review could easily reveal additional worthwhile items. Take a few moments and find out for yourself.Est. $7000-10000

BIG PILE OF STAMPS &: COVERS one man's entire lifetime of stamp collecting in six large cartons. His interests ranged from United States stamps, Trust Territories, United Nations, general foreign and let's not forget the FDCs. This poor man had a weak spot for FDCs and Fleetwood knew how to exploit his weakness. There are several albums of United States FDCs from the 1950s to the late 1980s and then there are the "collections" which start with the Birds &: Flowers FDCs, Europa topical FDCs, Endangered Animals FDC topicals plus several more. His main United States collection is housed in two volumes of Scott Specialty albums plus there are several volumes of the old brown Scott Internationals, many volumes of inexpensive foreign stamps mounted on notebook paper, a 1981 Royal Wedding collection and a small but nice Saar collection in a Lindner hingeless album. Did we mention the Trust Territories? We found several volumes of Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau including sheets; the face value alone is substantial! Finally, there is a box of stuff - loose album pages, glassines, bundleware and so much more. This collector "had it all" and now it can be yours!Est. $5000-6000

MASSIVE WORLDWIDE SOUVENIR &: MINIATURE SHEET HOLDING a very exciting stock of worldwide souvenir and miniature sheets, housed in about 5000 presentation cards, with virtually everything identified in by Scott number as well as price. However the latter often needs revision upwards, as random inspection will quickly reveal against the catalogues. This is a very colorful stock with lots of good countries and Topicals, the overwhelming majority are mint. Many a time the presentation cards have 2 or 3 each of the miniature sheets, occasionally up to half dozen but that’s about it. We estimate therefore that there must be in the order of 8000 of these, quite possibly more. Lots of better countries noted include PRC, New Zealand, Cyprus, Iceland, Palau, Montserrat, San Marino, South Korea, Luxemburg, Togo, British Africa and French Africa of many kinds i.e. independent as well as colonial particularly in the former. The new issue and replacement cost of this huge hoard would be a small fortune. The dealer who formed this, now retired, was in business for several decades and this is reflected in the tremendous variety of what is here. Certainly the most pleasant feature is the lack of duplication and the variety of many pleasant countries only a few of which have been already mentioned. For us the easiest way to get a handle on what is here is to make an average. We have put this in very conservatively in a little over 50cts each but this could well be worth a deal more. Certainly the viewer that spends time on this will have a tremendous opportunity to appreciate the full scope of what is present. If you are fortunate enough to buy this within our valuation range, this will be a bargain opportunity. Very much a recommended viewing especially for a dealer who is looking for a good original stock that is almost "turn-key" save the need for re pricing. Don’t hesitate to put this on your list lots to view.[v]Est. $5000-6000

WORLDWIDE HOLDING WITH STRONG NEW ISSUES TO 2000 an exciting accumulation, literally "A-Z" alphabetically organized in their individual file folders, A-Z, stuffed full of material. Some letters are obviously far more intense than others, however there are hardly any of these file folders that do not have a potential retail value between several hundreds or in some cases, a few thousands dollars each. One of the main features about this holding is the tremendous diversity of material with lots of good topics and simply items that this dealer liked! Yes, there is good saleable modern series such as Disney and wildlife, yet as importantly there are wedges of face value for all kinds of different countries in complete series, bulging in these file folders . The years cover much of the 20th century mostly the second half, there is even a little 2000 –surprisingly there are small sections periodically in the file folders of better pre WW2. However the substantial part of the value with is from the 1980s and the 1990s. Nothing seems to be in large quantity, more often than not a few to half a dozen of each particularly with the sheetlets, miniature sheets, se-tenants, booklets as well as regular issues as available at the time and held back by the dealer. Take any letter of the alphabet to get a ‘feel’ of what is here… for example starting with letter ‘A’, countries such as Antigua, Austria, Argentina, Albania, Australia and many others. Birds are a common theme and of course many others such as flowers, mosaics, military, uniforms, artefacts, archaeology, etc. The next letter “B” also sports a bulging folder boasting countries such as Belarus, Belgium, Bahamas, British Antarctic Territories, Bulgaria and again many more, just like virtually every other letter. The letter ‘C’ is just as bulky and fascinating, stuffed with material galore, representing countries such as Christmas Islands, Canada, Columbia, Congo to name just a few. These first three sets the pace with virtually every other letter, interestingly the letters ‘G’ and ‘M’ had to be put into 2 thick file folders each and unsurprisingly the letters ‘Q’ and ‘X’ amalgamated. Other stronger countries include Ireland, Israel, Japan with considerable face value as well as premium sheets/ sheetlets i.e. athletic issues as well as earlier UPU 1949 right up to the year 2000 with very colorful ‘achievements of the 20th century’ miniature sheets, Korea with lots of miniature sheets Luxemburg, Latvia 1939 m/s, lots of Macau, much Micronesia with themes such as space, fauna, butterflies – you name it, its probably here! Monaco, Montserrat with Bob Marley as also Presley seen for Palau, St Vincent, etc. Time just does not permit a further detailed description, save that there are many thousands of easily saleable complete series and will keep you working for months! How to value this? Well of course there are 26 letters in the alphabet and we think that a little under $200 each there is huge potential here for marketing. Please take a few at random, certainly a thorough viewing is much recommended.Est. $5000-6000

WORLDWIDE COLLECTION, 19TH &: 20TH CENTURY TO ABOUT 1960 many thousands of stamps here housed in three thick Scott Internationals organized by years, mint and used. Volume 1 being ‘A-Z’ for the 100 year period of 1840 to 1940 and an extremely impressive and valuable book with virtually every page containing something to offer and a catalogue potential that will be absolutely gigantic. We have no hesitation in projecting many thousands Scott retail in this book alone - take a look at Canada from 1859 Beaver and Large Centss onwards through to the $1 Parliament and various other good series of the 1920s and 1930s. Useful Denmark, Finland, France from Ceres onwards, lots of South America, India, Italy including better sets of 1930s, Netherlands with many good semi-postals again from the 1930s and earlier, better Newfoundland, Poland including stratosphere m/sheet, Russia from the Tsarist issues right up to better complete series of the 1930s with the pictorial athletics, underground/metro, Third Congress, better airmails loaded with good commems. Also Sweden, Switzerland all the way through to Zanzibar. Volume 2 which is 1940 to 1950, equally loaded from Aden through to Zanzibar, again often with a repeat of the better countries mentioned earlier which seems to be the collectors favorites. However take note in this album of China and Croatia as well. Volume 3 1950 through to 1960, again crammed with material, with for example Japan with the purple goose and the 1952/55 definitives mint complete series to 100 yen and of course the other countries this collector liked, especially Italy with key commems such as telecommunications, Unesco, Firenze and no empty spaces. Also good British Commonwealth in general, similarly lots of Russia in a well rounded worldwide representation of these years. A vast collection with great potential, ideal for any dealer looking for pre 1960, particularly pre-1940, which is very probably the best book. Any brave individual who still collects ‘worldwide’ as a generalist without the need for ultra-modern, will much enjoy viewing this substantial collection.[v]Est. $5000-6000

Book 9 features Switzerland and Sweden, very interesting Serbia classics well worth spending time on. Lastly book 10 which encompasses letters "T - Z" with countries such as Turkey, Vatican, Venezuela all the way through to Zululand. For some reason unknown, this collector placed Gibraltar after the "Z"s , it too is good, from the first QV issues onwards, up to QEII including the 1960 definitives to £1,1967 Ships definitives to £1, etc. Highly worthwhile, put this one down as a priority to view.Est. $5000-6000

WORLDWIDE CONDENSED COLLECTIONS here, a wannabe dealer who over the years took many a collection that were bought at auction, often from us, stripped them down from the album pages. Then he proceeded to cram them ‘stamp on stamp’, often with dozens to the line, mint and used with loads of complete series and in the process making a far more difficult viewing. There are many thousands of stamps in each book. Now offered to us intact, it has been requested by the vendor to auction them all together. Some of the countries represented in these 8 substantial books include Malta QV to QEII with intermediary shilling values and various commems complete, Monaco with early franc values, as well as later high value defins, commems galore and topical miniature sheets, Netherlands with much semi-postals from the 1930s complete and a plethora of series through to the 1950s and 60s as well as m/s, Norway from Oscar and posthorns, Austria imperfs leading on yet again to semi-postals, with several dozens if not hundreds of different series here as well. Useful Portugal leading up to more m/s, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain inc the ‘grenade thrower’ 10p green and dozens of other series, similarly with Turkey etc etc. Other books with Egypt, French and Spanish colonies, South West Africa with earlier high values to 10sh with bi-lingual blocks of KGV, Canada, South and Central America with much interest in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and fascinating back of the book. Western European is strong across the board, especially France with better semi-postal series from the good years of 1940s and 50s, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, you name the country, it is probably here. This is a very well rounded valuable accumulation with much merit, even Eastern Europe with Russia for example from the Tsarist issues onwards and hundreds of series running from the 1930s through to the 1960s, including better. Lots of Peoples Republic of China with many better series as well etc. Time consideration does not permit further description other than mentioning the obvious, this is strictly for stamp workaholics!Est. $5000-6000

WORLDWIDE GOODIES INCLUDING BOB SAFETY DEPOSIT MATERIAL "Small is beautiful" said the great ecologist Schumacher and this is no exception! Starting off with the very rare Italian Colonies Somalia with the postage dues series of 1906/7 first overprint 5c to 10l. set of eleven, fine mint and scarce. B.P.A. Certificate (2006). Sassone 1-11, cat 5,000 euros. Then another sought after Italian item, this time the 1923 Manzoni 10c. to 5l. mint almost imperceptibly hinged Scott #165-170, (cat $674 as hinged). Then British Commonwealth with a very unusual right hand corner marginal mint 1891 Fiji with 2 lower stamps unhinged and the 2 top stamps very lightly hinged, imperf at bottom. Then a very beautiful stamp the high value of Mauritius the 50 rupees mauve and green with specimen o/p. Then a collection of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co., part of the British Mail contract by the Pacific Steam Navigation Co for their agency, 1875/1880 with no less than 5 mint 10c red, then 3 used of the same including manuscript cancel and 10c blue etc - quite scarce material hardly ever seen. Finally the most spectacular looking Russian Zemstvo item with a sheet of 101, a complete sheet 13 x 7 of the Chembar 1888 issue multi-colored black, yellow and green, originally discovered in a large revenue collection with partial paper adherence on the back, a stunning item to look at of exhibition standard and important. All in all a wonderful lot of worldwide goodies, including much material difficult to value and certainly well worthwhile researching in old auction catalogues. A thoroughly recommended viewing.[v]Est. $4500-5500

WORLDWIDE COLLECTION Scott brown International Postage Stamp 1901-1920^a mint and used collection housed in an album that is literally falling apart at the seams, yet nevertheless full of interesting items, representing the first album of a trilogy of brown Scott Internationals. Many thousands of stamps here, starting of with US inc 1901 pan-ams complete, 1902/03 defins to 50 cts, a wide range of Washington/ Franklin heads to $ values, back of the book etc. However the main value of the collection is with the foreign from Aitutaki through to Zanzibar, with for example interesting imperfs of Albania of 1913, Argentina to 20 pesos ‘perf-ins’, a very good range of Azores with the young king series complete 1910 and 1911 with and without republica o/ps to 1000 reis, followed by useful Ceres defins types and back of the book etc. Then Bahamas EDVII good wmk mult crown CA with the key value 6d brown, mint and used, followed by KGV 5sh, as well as a range of special delivery, war tax etc. Barbados badge types, Bavaria galore all one a kind for the different o/ps etc, Bechuanaland KGV 1 /-, Belgium inc better defins to high values. Bolivia, Brazil with useful officials, Solomons KGV to 11d, Cameroons French occupation, Cape of Good Hope KGV to 5sh, Cayman Islands and Ceylon, Chile with better series, interesting Columbia with departmentals, Dahomey, Dutch Indies with few empty spaces to gulden values, Dominica with 1907 views to 2sh6d and 1919 to 2 /-, Epirus, Fiji various EDVII and KGV to shilling values, France and colonies, Germany with a good showing of early printings of the 1902 Germanias series complete to 5m, as well as the subsequent 1906 series of the same etc. Gilbert and Ellice Islands with 1911 complete and KGV to shilling, Gold Coast KEVII to 2sh, GB with KEVII 2sh6d and 5/-, as well as better seahorses and officials, Greece with high drachma values mint, Indochina, Lagos KGV 6d, KEVII to 1sh, 1904 and same again on CA watermark, Labuan with the good 1904 series overprints complete, Lithuania 1919/1920 definitives etc. Space and time limitations do not permit further description, other than to say there is the same consistency of material throughout the rest of the album all the way through to Zanzibar. No doubt a gigantic catalogue value with enormous potential. A very good old fashioned collection, enjoyable to go through with the distinct possibility of discoveries to be made, for example it would be worthwhile to spend some time on the extensive trident o/ps of Ukraine and many other countries. The best way to appreciate this collection is to allow time to view. This is probably, in our opinion, the best of the Scott brown International trilogy offered separately at this auction and a highly recommended viewing.[v]Est. $3500-4500

WORLDWIDE DESK SWEEPINGS a large carton that used to sit underneath the desk of a prominent dealer that collected all the things that he either did not have time to process before moving on to the next project or else did not fit into his retail stock, we noticed a small collection of German Colonies in a Lighthouse album along with a stockbook of used German Colonies arranged by town cancels, other small collections on loose album pages include Seychelles, useful early Denmark, Jordan (includes mint #255-69), and Austria first issues. Other interesting items include a significant holding of 1901 Transvaal "ERI" overprints in large blocks and part sheets, a group of 1945 unissued Austria Overprints on Hitler 1RM to 5RM values (x10), a file box of mostly mint Europe from the 1960s to 70s and finally two small boxes filled with hundreds of stock cards of better sets and singles in the $10 to $50 range that include British Commonwealth, Western Europe and worldwide material. In short, a real hodge-podge that is sure to appeal to the eclectic viewer.Est. $3000-4000

WORLDWIDE OLD TIME COLLECTION we love it when a multi-generational collection comes through the door, even at the last moment. This came in just as we were going to print and a short outline description will have to suffice. This is very much an old fashioned chunky collection- and yes Harry it is crusty- dusty- with many thousands of stamps housed in what can only be described as a grandfather and son collection, written up for the most part reasonably neatly. Many better items seen such as penny black, GB QV 2/6d, lots of early Scandinavia from Oscar issues onwards, much strength in various countries classics etc etc no time. Best to view page for page, don’t miss out on this original collection with huge potential.[v]Est. $3000-4000

WORLDWIDE BOOKLETS HOLDING an extraordinary range of material, mostly mint. The accumulation consists of 10 substantial books and a box. Each volume is organized by country and very little duplication, perhaps a few of each and more often than not on key countries such as Thailand - in fact one book is dedicated to Thailand and another 4 books for Scandinavia of which Sweden predominates and this country alone has about 450 booklets, with many premium, i.e. not only is there a very substantial face value content running into several hundreds of dollars, also far better booklets that will require a Facit to see the depth of what is here- for example ‘Folkskolan 100 years’, ‘Swedish Press’, ‘Esaias Tegner’, ‘Erik Gustaf Geiger’, ‘Sparbanksroerelsen’, ‘Pioneer Jubilee’, ‘Lingiaden’, ‘Christopher Polhem’, ‘Idrottsrorelsen’. Other Scandinavian countries include choc-a-bloc Denmark and Iceland, again not only high new issue content but also premium. Some volumes have a wide variety of countries, for example booklets from Greece, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Hungary, Monaco, Italy, Spain, Chile, Jugoslavia, Portugal, Cyprus, Israel with the early coin series onwards, etc- all of these just in one book, with well over 120 items. Othe volumes include Ireland, interesting booklets but also gutter pairs for commems and even postage dues. Eastern Europe very interesting not just for unusual Czechoslovakia, East Germany. Please note that in every book the prices – there are hardly any prices in the box - are for new issue service or at best an old catalogue figure, giving only an indication of what is here. Plus two books of British Commonwealth, with well over 200 booklets, with, Zambia, Monsterrat, Gibraltar, British Africa countries with low printing numbers like St Helena, Ascension, Seychelles, etc. Also present a box full of booklets waiting to be incorporated into the main run of the books. This box contains over fifty glassines, many of these are stuffed full of different booklets and can contain up to a dozen or so and we conservatively estimate that there are at about 200 booklets in this box alone., with Independent French Africa, some of the other Scandinavian countries such as Finland, Norway and many others from all over the world. There is such a wealth of material present with about 1500 booklets, notwithstanding the extra value with premium commems, definitives, postage dues, gutter pairs, etc, housed in the Irish book. This is a very colorful accumulation containing a wide variety of non-Scott listed items as well, some of which are not often seen on the market today, especially the earlier Scandinavia. Most booklets here would retail around $10, very few less than $5 and certainly there are a good number that would go for $30 especially in Scandinavia . This is an excellent opportunity for a dealer looking to replenish stocks inexpensively. Similarly a collector who wants a worldwide well-rounded booklet holding with little duplication will find this a difficult lot to beat.[v]Est. $3000-4000
