Text and numerals are alternated on 2 of the proofs ""20-United XX States-20-United XXÖ"". One of the strips of border proofs might be from an essay National Currency design and it looks like this: """"10-United (ten) States-10-National (ten) Currency-10Ö"". There are also borders with ""DIX"" repeated; ""X-TEN-X-TEN-X..."" repeated and others. Please view lot. Rare border proofs printed on india paper in orange-red and also black. 1940 "New York, NY. Federal Reserve Bank of New York Proof Check." "1914-1930. Proof. Proof ""Cashier's check"" of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, with ""Cashier's Check"" on left. Printed in green on india paper and mounted on 11.75 by 9.5 inch manila file card. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York maintains in their underground vault in Manhattan the largest gold repository in the world, even larger than Fort Knox. It contains $90 billion worth of gold bullion (approx 5,000 tons at 2006 prices). Unique in archive. ABN. XF condition with either light wear or a light printing on the lower right margin." 1941 "U.S. George Washington Vignette Used on U.S. Federal Bond ""Act of 11th July 1862""" "1862. Proof. Proof portrait of washington with flowery base and inscription ""Act of 11th July 1862"" and American BNCo. Imprint and plate number. Mounted on 11.5 by 9.5 manila file folder with notations ""Die cancelled on Aug. 20th 1963"". Evidently the vignette of washington was originally taken from a RWH&E die and altered for use on the bond. Notation on the bottom right of the 2nd page lists ""Rawdon-549"" which was the location of the original plate. Light foxing or glue staining. Unique in archive." (Photo) 300-600

ABN imprint. 2) Similar vignette in rectangular frame with curved top in black, no imprint (ABN). 3) ""Banco de Colombia"" 100 Pounds-$500 Bond top with vignette, denominations and title. 1944 US. National Currency Essay Vignettes. "1860-70's. Proof. 4 different proofs of National Currency vignettes and 2 different proofs of United States Treasury ""10"" counters. 1) to 3). Circular vignette borders 2.75 inches in diameter in 3 different colors, brown, green and black. ""National - Currency"" is alternated around the entire circular frame. The green and brown proof are proofs on india paper and the black one has been mounted on manila card. 4). 3.5 by 0.4 inch strip with alternating ""National - Currency"". 5, 6). United States Treasury circular vignete 1.5 inches in diameter with overlapping circles with "" United States Treasury-10"" on them. Evidently essays of portions of designs for U.S. currency. Condition varies from VF to uncirculated. Rare group of U.S. related currency vignettes." (Photo) 400-800
1945 National Gold Bank Note Proof Back - Gold Coins "1860's. Proof. Famous gold coin vignette used on ther back of all ""National Gold Bank"" banknotes. This proof which is printed on india paper is mounted on a manila envelope and has been cut to shape with a small white border. There is a small chip out at the upper right corner area and the envelope is falling apart. In red on top is written ""(G)overnment Die"" and the bottom has written in pencil ""all blue"" . This envelope came from the vignette files and show quite a bit of use. It appears that at one time it may have been filled with a group of these proofs, but the mounted proof is the only one in this archive. Brownish-red or plum color. Appears XF-AU except for chip in margin. Rare. NBN." (Photo) 1000-2000
