0422 Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii. U.S. Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company, Limited. 1926. <10,000 Shs. Specimen stock. Red "Specimen" overprints and POC's. Capital Stock. "Honolulu Certificate", red border. Vignette of sugarcane fields with factory in middle. In 1898, Alexander and Baldwin purchased a controlling interest in one of its rival companies, Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company (HC&S). In 1926, HC&S,changed from a California corporation to a Hawaiin corporation. The following year, it completed construction of Well 7, one of the largest deep wells in the world, with a capacity of 40 million gallons of brackish water per day. By 1948, HC&S was one of the largest cane sugar producers in the world. The most significant business event of the 1960s occurred in 1962, when HC&S was merged with and became a division of Alexander and Baldwin. Famous Hawaiian sugar cane plantation and growers. HBNC. 0437 Georgia. U.S. The Coca-Cola Company - Voting Trust Certificate. 1919. 100 Shs. Specimen Temporary Certificate for Common Stock. No vignette. Blue border and undertint. This is one of the earliest Coca-Cola stock certifcates as a corporate entity that is available. Ernest Woodruff, Eugene Stetson and Samuel Dobbs are listed as voting trustees. Red specimen overprints, POC's and "00000" serial numbers. VF condition with slight water staining on upper right. 2 were found of this color 7 years ago. This is the 2nd one. 0438 Hawaii. U.S. Hawaiian Pineapple Company Limited. 19--. Proof of vignette, title and text, no border. Pineapple plantation field. 3 proofs were found in archive, no specimens. In 1900, the territory of Hawaii is established and Sanford Dole, cousin of James Dole, is appointed first Governor of the new territory. In 1901, James Drummond Dole incorporates the Hawaiian Pineapple Company and started growing fruit on 60 acres in Wahiawa, north of Oahu. Dole becomes known as "The Pineapple King," because he was able to successfully grow and harvest this crop that had failed so many others. His company puts canned pineapple in every grocery store in the country and makes the name "Hawaiian" almost synonymous with "pineapple." In 1907, Dole moves pineapple cannery to Honolulu and places ads in U.S. magazines to promote pineapple. In 1915, Hawaiian Pineapple Company becomes Hawaii's second largest industry. In 1922, James Dole purchases the Island of Lana'i. Famous pineapple and fruit company from Hawaii. Rare stock certificate. Rare Early historic Dole Pineapple related certificate.
