All include images of sailing ships, steamships and steamboats. The vignettes range from 1.5 to 3 inches in size. All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila card with plate number at top of the card and on the india paper. A few have light foxing or minor faults including internal tears from mounting, the balance are in VF to choice condition. All are unique in the archive in this format. Please inspect. The vignettes range from 1 to 3 inches in size. All are printed on india paper. All in choice condition except for one that has small piece torn from lower right corner. Please inspect. 1464 U.S. Continental BNC Proof Vignettes (10). 1870's. 10 different proof vignette file sheets with vignettes printed on india paper and mounted on file cards. Plate number is listed on top of card and on proof itself. Proofs include "Continental BNC" micro printing; numerals including a compound proof sheet of 100(C)-500(D)-1000(M) vignette; a compound vignette of 50 that is obliterated and 1000 counters; "Two, Five and One hundred dollars" in text on a number of proofs and miscellaneous proofs. Printers include UBS&H (1), TC&Co. (1) and BC&Co.(2). All are medium sized vignettes between 1.5 and 2.5 inches each. 1). Ornate "V" with allegorical woman with sword and scales with ship and factory in background; 2). Ornate "V" with 3 allegorical woman surrounding "V"; 3). 2 cherubic figures in romantic embrace. Micro printing on bottom left has initials of UBS&H as engravers; 4). 5 cherubic angels with wings are hanging onto a very ornate "V". All vignettes in VF to choice condition. Rare group. 1468 U.S. Numeral Vignettes Used on Obsolete Banknotes. ca.1840-50's. LDP vignette of the numbers 1 and 2. Evidently engraved on the same die with a very small allegorical woman holding an anchor. The "1" vignette has a woman and an Indian and the "2" vignette has a sailor and woman. Plate # V 39655. Printed on india paper on white card. Pristine condition. Ornate and attractive vignette. Most were used on obsolete banknotes, stocks, bonds and drafts. All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila file folders with archival notations and information. Printers include ABNC; CBNC; TCC; and RWHE. Titles include "Washington On The Delaware"; "The Continentaler"; "Washington Headquarters, Newburgh" with micro-printing of Freeman Rawdon on lower right border and one internal tear; and, others untitled. All of the vignettes range from 1 to 3 inches in size. Most have toning or light glue stains, otherwise appear in choice condition. Please inspect. Printed on india paper and mounted to archival manila card with plate number on vignette and on card. Printed by ABNC but possibly engraved by a predecessor printer. 1478 U.S. Allegorical "Liberty and Eagle" Vignette Partially Engraved. ca.1859-1870's. Allegorical patriotic "Liberty" holding eagle proof vignette. Possibly used on obsolete banknotes, stocks, bonds, checks and security printed documents. The vignette is 1.5 to 2 inches in size. Printed on india paper and mounted to archival manila card with plate number on vignette and on card. Vignette is partially engraved with the eagle complet as well as "Liberty's" arm and head, while the rest of the vignette is only outlined or lightly engraved. Printed by Continental BNC.
