1553 California. U.S. California Arm Vignette Proofs Error. ca.1880-1953. 2 different proof vignettes including a Unique error Proof of California State Arms or Seal vignette. 1). Error state seal has 32 stars engraved when there should have been only 31 stars. Notation on manila card states "Note! Should be 31 stars, not 32. Admitted to Union 31st State". 2). U.S. Columbian BNC Production Department Sample Page. 1930-1934. 14 by 13 inch sample page from production department sample book. 5 different proof Columbian BNC calendars dated 1930 to 1933 with one "Master proof" that has dates blank. Also includes portions of "Railway Conductors of America" train passes. All are proofs printed on india paper and pasted to sample book page. Unique in archive. Harpooned fighting whale on its back swamping one whaleboat in foreground with men falling out of boat and about to be harpooned by another whaleboat. 3 inches by 1.75 inches. 1560 U.S. Early Proof Vignette Sheet From Unattributed Printer. 1870-1890's. Sample book page with proof vignettes covering a variety of topics. 15.5 by 10.5 inches. Upper line of vignettes include 4 different variations of an early George Washington vignette, A South American vignette of Bolivar I think; and an early Native American. Other vignettes include early mining, navigation, allegorical women, cattle, Native Americans and others. Possibly Western BNC's work, but I am not certain. Overall, fine to XF condition with a few vignettes showing considerable glue bleed through while others look choice. Rare and interesting assortment. (Photo) Est. 200.00-400.00

1562 U.S., Foreign Numeral "10" Counters Used on Banknotes, Stocks, Bonds and Documents Group #1. ca.1850's-70's. 47 different proof numeral "10" counters. Printed primarily by National BNC. All are either large die proofs or cut down large die proofs on india paper. Most have been used in some variation on either U.S. or foreign banknotes, stock certificates, bonds and documents. Almost all have plate numbers. All have different designs or color variations. A few of the vignettes might be from predecessor printing companies and used on Obsolete banknotes. Choice condition. Black border and vignette printed on light grey undertint. Eagle feeding chick vignette. Counterfoil attached. Chinese characters on left and right of draft. 1564 England "Specimens of Travelers Cheques" Booklet by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. ca.1920-30's. Specimen sample book of traveler's checks printed and engraved by BWC. Booklet is 9 by 3.5 inches and has printed cover stating "Specimen of travelers Cheques - Engraved and Printed By Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co, Ltd., New Malden, Surrey, England". 12 different checks are bound into booklet by a small perforated tab. All are in choice uncirculated condition. Banks and companies included are "Thos.Cook & Son, Bombay, India"; "The National Bank of Australasia, Ltd."; "Australia and New Zealand Bank, Ltd"; "Hambros Bank, Ltd"; "Rafidain Bank, Baghdad, Iraq"; "Midland Bank", London; "El Banco De Credito del Peru"; "The British Bank of Iran and the Middle East"; "The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney"; "The Commercial Bank of Scotland"; "The Bank of New Zealand"; "Lloyds Bank" and another "Midland Bank". 1569 Vulture, AZ. U.S. Vulture Mines Co. Proof Check. ca.1890-1900. Proof check on white paper with purple "Cancelled" overprint. Life-like vulture on left. Vulture Mines Company was an Arizona gold mine located about 14 road miles SW of Wickenburg and some 60 miles NW of Phoenix, on the southern margin of the Vulture Mountains. It was discovered and held by Henry Wickenburg first, then by the Arizona Central Mining Co. (1879-1888), and finally the Vulture Mines Co. (1908-1917). XF condition with slight soiling.
