Rare HBNC advertising card. Small piece missing from lower left corner that also nicked a small piece out of one of the Union RR tickets, otherwise it would grade choice condition. HBNC. 1701 U.S. American BNC Unique Advertising Sample Proof Sheet. ca.1940-50's. Uncut proof sheet of 18 ABNC advertising notes (3 different); 1 color chart and 3 portraits of Vanderbilt, Dom Pedro II and another old guy. Printed on soft yellow paper. 2 notes have been cut off of the upper left and upper right corners. Unique in archive and format never seen before with this kind of note arrangement. There are 13 advertising "20 Specimen" banknotes with George Washington's vignette; 3 faces and 2 backs of a "10 Specimen Note" and a color chart with allegorical figures in middle. 1707 New York. U.S. 1980 Democratic National Convention Uncut Proof Sheet. 1980. Uncut proof sheet of 20 "1980 Democratic National Convention" passes or badges dated August 11-14, 1980. The top row of badges are smaller and have portraits of Jackson, Jefferson, Truman, FDR and Wilson, the balance are 10 "Perimeter" and 5 "Non-Session" badges. Printed in orange on soft thin card with archival notations and markings. All are POC's and there are purple "Void" overprints on the sheet. XF condition. Unique in archive. 1710 Illinois. U.S. Western BNC Advertising Sheets (3). ca.1897-1905. Rare WBNC advertising vignette sheets (2) with vignettes of 7 different buildings including WBN building; Masonic Temple; Auditorium; Woman's Temperance Building; Equitable building and others. One is printed in black on yellow paper with blank back, the other on pink paper with additional information on WBNC. Also included is a 1905 solicitation letter from their Baltimore office. 1711 U.S. Annual Ball of the Plate Printers Union Invitations (2). 1899. 2 different invitations, one for "Ladies" and the other for "Gentleman". 1). "Ladie's Ticket". Printed on light yellow card stock. Vignette of woman placing paper for printer on printing press; 2). "Gentleman's Ticket". Printed on light brown card stock. Vignette of George Washington. 1712 U.S. American Bank Note Co. Advertising Business Cards (4). ca.1860's-80's. 3 different ABNC business - advertising cards. 1). Unique hand drawn model or mockup of a business card for Frederick C.Mead, 78 to 86 Trinity Place, New York. Proof vignette of ABNC eagle with dates 1795-1879 with bust of Apollo on right with artisits pallet and brushes over text "Plates Engraved Only On Condition That They Remain In Custody Of This Company" Additional text is hand printed and drawn below the previous text and states "Steel Engravings Lithography and Type Printing of Every Description".Mounting remnants on back. Face is in XF condition; 2). ABNC advertising card with text for ABNC and information on company in red and blue on one side and on the reverse side is a micro-printed version of the Declaration of Independence with 16 different States Arms in circles surrounding it. Micro-printing of "Engraved by C.Toppan, Phila'd' on bottom. It appears that the card may have had the bottom cut off,but I have not seen an entire card. Still looks in XF condition; 3). An uncut vertical pair of ABNC advertising - business cards with George Washington on the face that unfolds with the inside empty and on the back, the same micro version of the Declaration of Independence by Charles Toppan. 1713 U.S. The Major & Knapp Advertising Business Card on Coated Stock. ca.1860's-70's. "The Major & Knapp Engraving (Mfg.& Lith.) Company. 69, 71 & 73 Broadway, New York". Famous early engravers and lithographer printers. Card is intaglio printed on white coated stock. Some light toning on the top 1/5th of the card, but otherwise it appears in XF condition. 1714 U.S. Peter Hall & Co. Business Cards - One on Coated Stock. 1880-81. 2 different business cards for Peter Hall and Peter Hall & Co. He was born in Birmingham, England in 1828 and died in Brooklyn in 1895. When he first came to this country, he started working for RWH&E from 1854 to 1859. He then worked for ABNC after this. In 1878 he was the Superintendent of the Engraving Division for Continental BNC. In 1880 and 1881 he engraved independently. 1). Peter Hall & Co. Eagle with text advertising types of engraving they do on white card woth mounting stains on the back, othewise the card is in XF condition; 2). Peter Hall (ca.1850-60's) printed on white coated stock. XF condition. Rare business cards from this famous engraver. (Photo) Est. 200.00-400.00
1715 U.S. American BNC and Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson Letterheads. 1852, 1860. 2 different early security printer letterheads. 1). RWH&E postmarked and stampless cover letterhead dated 1852 with vignette of allegorical neptune with U.S. Liberty in chariot pulled by seahorses; 2). 1718 Montreal. Canada British American Bank Note Co. Proof Advertising Letter. 18--, (ca.1870-1880's). Proof of BABNC letter that accompanied framed proofs of samples of work done by BABNC. Letter states "Dear Sir, Being Desirous that Business Men should become acquainted with the progress made in Fine Art Engraving in Canada during the past four years, We take the liberty of sending you a Framed sample of our art work, which we hope you will consider worthy of a place on the walls of your Office or Board Room. If it is not acceptable will you kindly return to________________________". Printed on white coated stock type of paper and mounted on sample book page.
