1742 U.S Bank Note Engraver Personal Work Book - Rawdon, Clark & Co. 1827-1834. 20 Page Proof title sample book. 6 by 3.75 inches. Titles from proof banknotes printed on india paper are cut to shape and pasted into booklet on right hand pages only leaving back of pages blank. On the average 4 or 5 titles to a page. Front page has "Bank Note Engravers, Albany" in large engraved letters. In extremely faint pencil scrip, (which I only noticed for the first time when trying to figure out the back ground of this booklet) is written "Rawdon, Clark & Co" and underneath that "Naziah Wright". "Rawdon Clark & Co." were in business from 1827 to 1834 in Albany and New York in various associations. The booklet appears to date from that time period and the style of letters seems appropriate also for the style of engraving and lettering of that time. The booklet is gently and attractively toned. There are some faults and small tears and light glue bleed through, but overall, this little historic little booklet is in excellent shape. Some of the titles and states include River Raisin; Bank of Grenada, Mississippi; Bank of West Union; Mount Vernon Bank; Real Estate Bank of the State Of Arkansas; Manhattan Bank; Bank of Rutland (VT); Bank of Newburgh; Linden Rail Road Co.; The Union Bank of Florida; Exchange Bank of Cincinnati; Atchafalaya Rail-Road & Banking Co.; The Bank of Milwaukee; Agricultural Bank of Mississippi; Quebec Bank; Planters' and Merchants' Bank of Mobile; Pigeon Roost Mining Co; Bank of Tennessee; The Western Bank of Georgia and many others. It is very possible that this was the personal record book of proof titles of Wright or Rawdon. Unique, historic and interesting. (Photo) Est. 500.00-100.00
