1811 California. U.S. California Arms Oval Vignette, Partially Engraved Proof. ca.1860's. Unique Proof of California State Arms or Seal used on the back of California 1st Series National Bank Notes. This is a unique model version of the seal before California was engraved into it and it has California written in pencil on top of oval. Printed in Black. Choice Unc. Very light purple "Property of American Bank Note Co." hand stamped on back. Printed in black with no undertint. Multiple vignettes cover both sides and the entire bottom. Note states "Will pay One Dollar on demand to bearer as directed by the Act of the Assembly of the 4th May 1841. RE-ISSUE, Jany 1. 1851". Danforth, Bald & Co. Very light purple "Property of American Bank Note Co." hand stamped on back. Printed in black with no undertint. Multiple vignettes cover over 1/2 of note on both sides and the entire bottom. Note states "Will pay Five Dollars on demand to bearer". Danforth, Bald & Co. Philad & New York imprint on bottom of note. POC. Would be in Choice Uncirculated Condition, but there is a miniscule piece of the corner paper that has flaked off on the upper right corner that does not touch printing, but is mentioned for accuracy. 1819 Missouri. U.S. Cairo & St.Louis Railroad Co. Scrip Note. 1877. 25 cents. St.Louis, MO. Unmarked and uncancelled specimen trial color scrip note. Black on light blue paper. Locomotive vignette on lower left. Text on face states "This Ticket Good For Twenty Five Cents". Back has text that states that ticket is good for meals and lodgings with company. Perforated vertically and imperforate horizontally. Uncirculated condition. Printed by St.Louis BNC which was acquired by Western BNC in the early 1880's. Rare railroad scrip note.
