Delaware. Cord Corporation - Automobile Stock Certificate Proof. Vignette, title and text without border. Tri-motor airplane flying over speedboats, Dusenberg and Auburn Automobiles. Cord headed the Cord Corporation and owned two aviation companies, Stinson Aircraft and Lycoming Motors, two automobile companies, Auburn and Dusenberg, and five other engine manufacturers. In 1932, Cord formed the Airplane Development Corp. as a subsidiary of the Cord Corp.. In early 1932, Cord faced labor problems with his airlines pilots and he sold both airlines to American Airways. By late 1932, Cord had purchased 30 percent of the stock in the Aviation Corporation and after a bitter stockholder's battle, Cord gained control of the company. Arizona. The Aerial Navigation Company of America. 1909. Issued and uncancelled stock certificate. 10 Shares. Black border with gold undertint.Allegorical boy on winged wheel. Certificate is in XF condition. The Aerial Navigation Co. of America (1908-1912) was founded by Henry Laurens Call, socialist lawyer and economist. Located in Girard, Kansas, the Aerial Navigation Company designed the Call airship -- the first Kansas-designed and built aircraft to make an attempt to take off. The airship was not successful, but the company established a factory, a flying school, and built an additional 13 aircraft before going bankrupt in 1912. Only one of the aircraft, the Call Monoplane, actually flew. The Company's biggest success was with the Call Aviation Engine which they manufactured and marketed. The Vega Aircraft Corporation was a subsidiary of the Lockheed Aircraft Company responsible for much of its parent company's production in World War II. The company was first formed in August 1937 as the AiRover Company to produce a new light plane design. In 1940, with World War II already underway in Europe, Vega changed its focus from light planes to military aircraft. Vega entered a partnership between three companies, Boeing, Vega, and Douglas to produce the B-17 Flying Fortress. Of over 12,000 B-17s produced by war's end, 2,750 were built by Vega. Photo of an early design biplane is on UL. Fine condition with some fold separations at folds and archival tape reinforcement on back. 2 were found in an old estate, this is the better example. Signed by L.R.Culver as president. was the site of some of the very earliest airplane flights in the west, started in 1909 and continued through 1911. These experimental flights were made by L. R. Culver about six years after the Wright brothers flew their airplane at Kitty Hawk in 1903. Culver built the aircraft as a glider and then a motor was added to power the craft. His most successful flight was about fifty feet off the ground and lasted for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Extremely rare and historic aviation certificate.Est. $900-1800

Morris Plan banks were at the forefront of an explosion of consumer credit that started at the beginning of the 2nd decade of the 20th century and they became the prominent institution for providing consumer credit to the poor through the 1920s. In 1910 there were few institutions existing for provision of consumer credit to low and middle-income individuals. The company entered receivership in the spring of 1894 and was dissolved in 1902 and this financing appears to be an attempt to fund a reorganization of the company which evidently was not successful. Samuel Sartain was known for being a master print maker and steel engraver. He was the son of John Sartain. The Academy building is considered one of the finest surviving examples of Victorian Gothic architecture in America and was designed by the American architects Frank Furness and George W. Hewitt. The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts was founded in 1805 by painter and scientist Charles Wilson Peale, sculptor William Rush, and other artists and business leaders.
